Day 2: Virtually Grateful

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.
— Marcus Aurelius

6:30am - Rise and shine, it’s morning time!

As you awaken today, carry the same attitude of gratitude from yesterday into your day. Before you brush your teeth, take a moment and notice something wonderful about yourself: the way you stretch, your toes, fingers, your ability to wake up and see. Stretch your arms over your head and gently enter your day with an appreciation of all that you have. Then let’s meet on the mat for our hara meditation. The recording is right here:

As you do your morning walk, jog, or stair climb notice your internal energy and breathe into it. Notice all the miracles around you from your ability to breathe to a flower blooming.  We’ll see you here for 9am yoga flow:

Keep the mindfulness going as you journal with a smoothie about your morning. What things are you especially grateful for? What did you notice that is particularly special and beautiful this morning, perhaps something you haven’t noticed before? Write it down and let yourself relax into noticing the beauty and miracles around you.

Explore in your journal. Notice if today, thoughts come more easily. Again, when you don’t know what to write, just sit with pen on paper, perhaps draw or just let the pen take a walk across the paper.

During these days, and hopefully afterwards, while preparing our food, we try to be present. This is mindfulness and we notice things about ourselves and the food as we prepare and eat it. Eating is one of life’s greatest pleasures. So let it be a way to cherish yourself and allow yourself to truly nourish yourself with your meals.  Say thank you to each piece for its energy. Once again, during the process, let yourself be 100% aware of what you are doing. Enjoy and savor each bite.

After lunch read and relax. If you need to check email, give yourself a time limit. Then, once again take an electronic break. Why not try a soothing foot soak today?

Homemade Foot Soak for Achy Feet

  • Hot water

  • 2 tablespoons vinegar

  • 1 cup Epsom salt or sea salt

Fill a foot bath or large basin with hot water. Add the vinegar and mix in a handful of Epsom salt or sea salt. Soak feet for 20 minutes. Then prepare the same mixture using cool water. Soak a towel in the cool mixture, squeeze out excess and wrap it around feet for five minutes for a refreshing finish. Repeat whenever necessary to reduce inflammation and relieve achy feet.

Today we dance!

Sometimes when we focus on advancing and becoming “better” and starting new, we can forget to enjoy. This dance flow with Ursula reminds you to move, to smile and to enjoy the freedom of your amazing body, wherever you are in your physical condition. So get ready to have fun, move your body and dance to the music!

Evening Snack… Rest well.
