Maestros
Joanne Fanny - Our founder sought yoga as a healing modality from athletic injuries. She found Baron Baptiste in his 1st studio in Cambridge Mass. and became a believer in yoga. Certified to teach Hatha Yoga in 2003, she adapted that knowledge to teach power vinyasa here in Tulum, MX. More recently she’s fallen in love with Yin and a Yin Yang practice for their healing powers and accessibility. She studied Yin with YumJi in 2017 and with Sarah Powers’ Insight Yoga in 2023. She loves exploring deeply into the layers of our physical, emotional and energetic bodies and believes we can create peace on earth beginning with ourselves. She also teaches meditation, pranayama, restorative yoga and vinyasa here at Tribal.
Ginger Janet - Janet does our sound healings here at Tribal Tulum the fist Sunday of every month. Sound is an amazingly healing modality and the vibrations enter your body at a molecular level to bring balance and calm. As you relax to the soft, harmonious sounds of crystal and metal bowl accompanied by drums, rainstick and bells, you quickly enter a theta state where you can allow your body to restore and relax.
Bren teaches Vinyasa Flow at Tribal Tulum.
Her studies in Argentina focused on the Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga traditions. For Bren, yoga “brings us to a place of internal knowing and peace that helps us feel complete in our lives”. Yoga has helped Bren shift perspective and has gifted her with an inner knowing that allows her to interact more easily and peacefully with the exterior world. As she shares the practice and philosophy of yoga, Bren guides students to improve their health and wellness using asana, pranayama and meditation. In this way, she helps practitioners move deeper toward an inner knowledge of themselves. She’s studied extensively in various yoga schools in Argentina including Foundational Tendrel and Shraddhayogashala.
Jorge— Jorge instructs an Ashtanga based Vinyasa Flow here at Tribal Tulum. He believes in the power of movement and that repetition is a stimulus for creativity.
Cristina — Cristina teaches a slow vinyasa flow and restorative with myofascial release here at Tribal Tulum. She’s passionate about teaching because yoga has “been a great source of healing for me through the years and continues to be so.” Her practice helped her through chronic pain and fatigue. Immigrating to a foreign country early in life, yoga helped her face various challenges in her early years. Movement and mindfulness are tools that helped her overcome these challenges and which help her to “evolve as a human.” She did her 200 hour in Mysore India and her 300 hour training in Toronto Canada studying traditional Hatha yoga. Cristina loves to be creative in her sequencing and tailors her classes to suit the moment and the students who arrive on their mats here at Tribal.
Craig joins us from the UK and Spain. He’s a wellbeing consultant who is passionate about Breathwork and it’s application through the asanas. His first intro to Tribal was as a retreat participant and this is his third time back to Tribal Tulum, as a student and teacher.
“Yoga found me at a very challenging time in my life and helped me deal with illness and mental health struggles. It taught me first hand that from darkness we can see the light. In essence yoga saved my life and gave ma a great desire to share what I had learned.” His journey is to make yoga accessible and adaptable to all.
Craig’s practice focuses on connecting body and soul through mindful movement and meditation. He teaches Hatha and Yin at Tribal for the next few months on a pop up schedule. Look for him on the schedule! “I’m excited to be back at my spiritual home here in Tribal Tulum and can’t wait to meet you on the mat.”
