Get Your Warrior On
Classes at Tribal Tulum speak to the need for all of us to look inside and get to know ourselves. Our teachers and the variety of classes offered allows you to do just that: practice meeting yourself.
“The difference between a beginner and an adept is less about postural ability and much more about the breadth of interest in attending, regardless of what limitations are discovered.” Sarah Powers
Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa Flow is a practice where we move fluidly between postures (asanas) in rhythm with the breath, often using sun salutations as the means to do so. The word “vinyasa” can be translated as “arranging something in a special way,” like yoga poses. Follow us on insta for subs and special classes. Even yoga teachers need vacations!
Iyengar
Hatha Yoga focused on alignment. The practice is based in the tradition of the style's founder, BKS Iyengar, who not only developed the particular style but also many of the props we use at Tribal to enter the postures in an aligned and safe manner. BKS Iyengar also wrote the books Light on Yoga and Light on Life.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a practice that cultivates mindfulness and body awareness. We hold poses from 1 to 10 minutes with the goal of releasing myofascial tension and blocks to the free movement of energy in the body. The long holds increase circulation in joints as well as improve flexibility and develop a quiet mind that is open to a meditative state.
Roll & Release
Roll & Release is a challenging yet slow Vinyasa Flow practice that incorporates massage balls to deepen the release of stored tensions in the body. After or within the flow we use massage balls on specific parts of the body to deepen release of tension and stress.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is a slow practice with supported poses (generally reclining). Supported poses are held between 3 and 10 minutes but, unlike in Yin, participants are encouraged to relax into the poses rather than look for the deepest posture possible. The result is deep relaxation and restoration of the body’s energy levels.
Meditation
Meditation practices encourage silence and observance. By sitting comfortably in silence, observing the breath, we develop the ability to see things as they are and to be present to the immensely beautiful details around us. Discussion and meditation is a 30 minute practice.
Hatha Yoga
Hatha refers to the practice of the physical yoga postures, or asanas. Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar and Power Yoga classes are all Hatha based. The word “hatha” can be translated as “willful” or “forceful,” or as “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha): the yoga of balance.
Yin Yang
“You can only be yin for so long before stagnating. You can only be yang for so long before burning out” Bernie Clark.
The Yin Yang practice seeks balance between movement and stillness and includes some flowing asana sequences and long held yin postures that complement the flow.
Soulful Movement
Soulful Movement combines mobility practice, yoga and meditation. It is an hour of blissful movement and play with a foundation in Vinyasa Flow.
Slow Flow
Slow Flow is a Vinyasa Flow practice with longer holds and more deep postures than our normal Vinyasa practice. The pace allows you to incorporate deeper breath and alignment adjustments into the flow.
Sound Healings
Music and sounds at certain vibrational frequencies tend to relax the sympathetic nervous system, release tension and allow healing of traumas that are embedded in our emotional bodies. We offer sound baths / healings on special occasions with a variety of practitioners.
Dance Flow
Flow through 60 minutes of yoga combined with fun beats and dance moves that will leave you feeling energized and open, perhaps more confident and motivated than ever before. This class helps with body toning and coordination. A huge smile is guaranteed!
